Turner Fleischer Marks GBC 10-year Partnership with Renewed Pledge

In April 2022 Turner Fleischer Architects Inc. renewed their partnership with the George Brown College Foundation. This partnership began 10 years ago and during this time Turner Fleisher Architects has been a major supporter of GBC architectural technology students through co-op and graduate hiring, guest lectures, joint applied research projects, and scholarships.

Turner Fleischer Architects Inc. has pledged $10,000 over five years, at $2,000 per year beginning in 2022. The Turner Fleischer Architects Award in Digital Practices for Architectural Technology is specifically designated to George Brown College’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies, School of Architectural Studies.

One award, worth $2,000, will be given to a registered, full-time domestic student in the School of Architectural Studies at George Brown College’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies.

Award recipients must be enrolled in their 3rd year of study in the Architectural Technology Program, have a strong academic standing with a program GPA of 3.0 or higher, be a resident of Ontario for 12 years prior to enrolment and have the highest combined grades in Digital Practices for Architecture 1,2, and 3.

Ellen Bensky, Principal, Turner Fleischer Architects Inc., stated, “Turner Fleischer Architects is pleased to partner with George Brown College in supporting the next generation of architectural technologists. Our firm has 37 GBC alumni working with us in various roles. It is our sincere hope that these awards will help foster the type of architects the sector needs as it continues to grow.”

Prof. Pietro Ferrari, Program Coordinator for the Architectural Technology Program, said of the pledge, “Not only is Turner Fleischer Architects among the most technologically progressive firms, it also ensures and emphasizes a collectively healthy workplace culture, while at the same time supporting the continued growth and development of each and every individual on their team. This is an ideal environment for our co-op students and graduates and the School of Architectural Studies is fortunate to have Turner Fleischer Architects as such a vital partner.”

Dr. Cindy Gouveia, President of the George Brown College Foundation, opined, “Turner Fleischer Architects Inc., is to be commended for the tangible support it has provided for the College’s architectural technology students. This pledge is an example of what can be achieved when the business community partners with post-secondary education, for the benefit of all.”
