The Toronto and Area Road Builders Association (TARBA), through the George Brown College Foundation, has renewed its scholarship to support George Brown College’s engineering students. TARBA has pledged $20,000 to George Brown College’s TARBA Civil Technology Scholarship.

The TARBA Civil Technology Scholarship is directed towards students of the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies’ Angelo DelZotto School of Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology Program. Commencing January 2022 for five consecutive years, one scholarship of $4,000 will be awarded to a full-time domestic or international student enrolled in their second year of study who demonstrates commitment and dedication to the field with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Rob Bradford, TARBA’s executive director, stated of the renewal, “TARBA is pleased to play this modest role in ensuring that the civil technology professionals our industry needs now, and in the future, are both available and educated to the highest-standards. George Brown has and continues to be a leader in meeting these objectives.”

Dr. Adel Esayed, Dean, Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies, said “The TARBA Civil Technology Scholarship highlights TARBA’s thought-leadership vis-à-vis future-proofing the construction sector. The Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies is therefore honoured to work with TARBA in this regard.”

Dr. Cindy Gouveia, President of George Brown College Foundation, added, “We are thankful to TARBA for its leadership and for supporting our civil engineering technology students in such a tangible way. The Foundation is pleased to have facilitated both this generous award and TARBA’s continued relationship with George Brown College for the benefit of our students.”
