Applicable for: NRCan’s Climate Change Adaptation Program (2022–2027) helps to position Canada’s regions and sectors to adapt to a changing climate. The Program aims to: Support decision-makers in identifying and implementing adaptation actions; Enhance adaptation knowledge and skills among Canada’s workforce; and Increase access to climate change adaptation tools and resources.
Indigenous Forestry Initiative

Funds Available: $6.2 million
Applicable for: The Indigenous Forestry Initiative (IFI) provides financial support to Indigenous-led economic development projects in Canada’s forest sector. Benefits of the program include: increased Indigenous participation in forestry-related opportunities, businesses, careers and governance; increased engagement and economic development for Indigenous communities and peoples involved in the forest sector; increased investment and collaboration between Indigenous peoples and other natural resource development stakeholders, including governments, industry and non-governmental organizations.

The Implementation Readiness Fund
Employment and Social Development Canada (New!)

Funds Available: ECCC is seeking to fund projects that request a Program contribution ranging from $100,000 to $1,000,000. Larger projects could be considered on an exceptional basis.
Applicable for: The Low Carbon Economy Fund (LCEF) is an Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) program that supports projects that reduce Canada’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, generate clean growth, build resilient communities, and help create jobs for Canadians.

The Exceptional Opportunities Fund
Canada Foundation for Innovation

Funds Available: The CFI will fund a maximum of 40 percent of the total eligible costs of the infrastructure project.
Applicable for: To qualify for this funding, a project must take advantage of an exceptional and time-sensitive opportunity and partnership that justifies having the project considered outside the normal pan-Canadian competitive review process; requires the coordination and financial support of other relevant agencies for the funding of the research, the infrastructure and its operations in a timely manner; and, the infrastructure component must be an indispensable element of the project. Projects that have already been reviewed, in whole or in part, by the CFI are not eligible.

Applicable for: Support projects aimed at helping Indigenous Peoples and other underrepresented and marginalized groups in Canadian agriculture — including women, youth, persons with disabilities, racialized persons, visible minorities, 2SLGBTQI+ communities, and official language minority communities — to fully participate in the sector by helping these groups address the key issues and barriers they often face for sector participation.

Applicable for: Collaborative Networks involve multi-disciplinary teams of experts from across Canada and abroad.
