Biography
Evelyn Chan is an Educational Technology and Digital Content Specialist at the Teaching and Learning Exchange at George Brown Polytechnic. She brings extensive experience in learning experience design, educational technology integration, and digital content development across higher education and workplace learning environments.
Evelyn has previously worked with Sheridan College and Workplace Safety and Prevention Services (WSPS), where she collaborated with subject matter experts to develop OntarioLearn courses and design Occupational Health and Safety learning materials for organizations including the Canadian Space Agency, secondary schools, and OCAD University.
She holds a Master of Digital Media (MDM) from Toronto Metropolitan University and is a Quality Matters Certified Master Reviewer. Her work is grounded in internationally recognized Quality Matters standards, supporting evidence-informed, inclusive, and accessible course design.
At George Brown Polytechnic, Evelyn partners with faculty, academic units, and program teams to enhance online, hybrid, and web-enhanced learning. Her work emphasizes accessibility, meaningful interaction, and pedagogical quality.
She is the author of multiple open-access Pressbooks published through eCampusOntario, focusing on quality online learning, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and the ethical integration of emerging technologies in higher education. Her work reflects a strong commitment to faculty development and advancing institutional approaches to digital learning.
Evelyn supports faculty through consultations and professional learning workshops, with expertise in online pedagogy, UDL, Quality Matters standards, and platforms such as Brightspace.
She has completed American Sign Language (ASL) Levels 1 and 2 and continues her studies, alongside specialized ASL training for EMS and first responders, reinforcing her commitment to accessibility and inclusive learning environments.
