George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
To become an apprentice, you will need to find an employer to hire you. Together you and your employer must register a Contract of Apprenticeship with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD). MLITSD will send you an Offer of Training to attend the basic level of the in-school component of your apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship applicants will be required to have both an Offer of Training from MLITSD and an active Skilled Trades Ontario membership in order to be registered in an apprenticeship program at George Brown Polytechnic.
If you are a Secondary School student, you can enroll in an Accelerated Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) which will allow you to start your training while completing Secondary School. Speak to your guidance counsellor or cooperative education teacher at your secondary school.
George Brown Polytechnic also offers a number of post-secondary programs that will help prepare you to become employed as an apprentice.
