How to apply for these awards

To be considered for any of the awards listed below, students must be enrolled full-time in a program within the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts. Students can apply by selecting Divisional Winter Awards through STU-VIEW during the winter awards portal window.

Business

5 to Watch Achievement Award

George Brown Polytechnic School of Marketing and Financial Services has donated funds for the establishment of the 5 to Watch Award. The award is available to students in the B120, B108 or B158, B400, B406, B409, B413 programs in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0;
  • The student must display financial need.

Al Roissl Leadership in Financial Planning Award

Investview financial Inc. has donated funds for the establishment of the Al Roissl Leadership in Financial Planning Award. The award is available to full time domestic students in the B301 and B302 programs.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.5;
  • Student must display financial need;
  • The student must display leadership qualities.

Anne Sado Award for Women in Business Scholarship

Donna Harris has donated funds for the establishment of Anne Sado Award for Women in Business Scholarship. The award is available to all female students in any Business program in any year of study.

*Preference will be given to first generation women

  • Student must display financial need.

Apex Public Relations Scholarship

Apex Public Relations has donated funds for the establishment of the Apex Public Relations Scholarship. The award is available to domestic students in any Business program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Student must display financial need;
  • The student must be involved in the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Community Innovation Program;
  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external).

Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts Expendable Awards

Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts has donated funds for the establishment of the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts Expendable Awards. The award is available to students in any Business program in any year of study

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must demonstrate strong academic performance;
  • The student must display excellent leadership skills.

Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts Analytics Symposium Scholarships 

Starting in the winter semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, and ending in the 2024- 2025 academic year, two (2) awards of $1,000.00 each will be presented annually to two (2) students in the Honours Bachelor’s degree of Business Administration (Business Analytics B303), and five (5) awards of $1,000 each to five (5) students in the Analytics for Business Decision Making (Postgraduate) (B412 and B422), for a total of seven (7) awards at $7,000 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Must be a registered, full-time domestic or international student 
  • •Student must be enrolled in either of the following programs at George Brown Polytechnic: 
  • Honours Bachelor’s degree of Business Administration (Business Analytics B303)  
  • Analytics for Business Decision Making (Postgraduate) (B412 and B422)  
  • Student must demonstrate financial need  
  • Student must demonstrate a passion for the field of business analytics in their chosen program, including, but not limited to being a member of the analytics club at Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts, George Brown Polytechnic

Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts Scholarship

Faculty of Business, Arts and Design has donated funds for the establishment of the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts Scholarship. The award is available to domestic students in any Business program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0;
  • Student must display financial need;
  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)and display commitment to working with others.

CFL Achievement Award

Canadian Football League has donated funds for the establishment of the CFL Achievement Award. The award is available to students in the B400 program in any year of study, who show excellent understanding of the sports marketing industry.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0;
  • Student must display financial need;
  • Student must demonstrate leadership qualities through volunteerism and participation in sports-related activities; exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in teams;
  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external).

CIBC Financial Services Scholarships

CIBC has donated funds for the establishment of the CIBC Financial Services Scholarships. The award is available to students in the B301, B407 or B150 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Highest GPA in the 4th semester;
  • The student must receive an excellent feedback from the students' co-op work term employer;
  • The student must be actively involved in in George Brown Polytechnic activities related to the area.

Costco Wholesale Canada Scholarship

Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. Has donated funds for the establishment of the Costco Wholesale Canada Scholarship. This scholarship is available to full-time students enrolled in their first year of the Business Administration Program (B145), or the Business – Marketing Program (B120) who meet the following criteria:

  • Domestic or international
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA


CTC Sports Marketing Award

The Canadian Tire Corporation has donated funds for the establishment of the CTC Sports Marketing Award. This award is available to full-time students in the Sport & Event Marketing Program (B400) who meet the following criteria:

  • Domestic or international
  • Student must display financial need
  • Student must demonstrate outstanding academic performance
  • Student must demonstrate leadership qualities through volunteerism and participation in sports-related activities

Dean's Award of Excellence

Faculty has donated funds for the establishment of the Dean's Award. The award is available to graduating students in any Business and Financial services programs.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.5
  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)

Debbie Simon Award for Excellence in Human Resources

Home Trust Company/Home Capitol Group Inc. has donated funds for the establishment of the Debbie Simon Award for Excellence in Human Resources.
The award is available to students in the B144, B154 or B408 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)

Dr. Robin Yap Student Bursary

Dr. Robin Yap had donated funds for the establishment of Dr. Robin Yap Student Bursary. The bursary is available to students enrolled in the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts programs in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Self identifies as any of these LGBTTQQIAP (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual and Pansexual)
  • Has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through LGBT-related community involvement in or out of school

Economical Insurance Award

Economical Mutual Insurance Company is offering an award to enable students attending George Brown Polytechnic to achieve their career goals. Students must be registered in one of the following programs:

  • Business Administration – Accounting Program (B107/B157)
  • Business Administration – Human Resources (B154/B144)
  • Marketing Management – Financial Services (postgraduate) (B406)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Registered, full-time students pursuing undergraduate studies
  • Have submitted an application for full-time studies at George Brown Polytechnic and received a George Brown Polytechnic student number
  • Must be domestic students including citizens, landed immigrants and permanent residents
  • Demonstrates community and/or extracurricular involvement and leadership qualities
  • Has overcome obstacles to obtain their studies at George Brown Polytechnic
  • Preference is given to returning students who have previously completed courses and/or programs at the college

Elio Pacheco Passion to Succeed Award

Elio Pacheco has donated funds for the establishment of the Elio Pacheco Passion to Succeed Award. The award is available to students in the B145 and B155 programs in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must display financial need
  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)
  • The student demonstrates leadership and an entrepreneurial approach to his/her course work and extracurricular activities

Financial Planning Standards Council Award of Excellence

Financial Planning Standards Council has donated funds for the establishment of the Financial Planning Standards Council Award of Excellent. The award is available to student in the B407 program.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Has strong leadership qualities
  • Exhibits passion for the industry and contributes to the classroom learning environment
  • Student must display financial need

George Brown Polytechnic Alumni Award for Business

George Brown Polytechnic Alumni has donated funds for the establishment of the George Brown Polytechnic Alumni Award for Business. The award is available to students in all BFS programs in their first year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)

George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources Department Award

Nancy Hood, George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources, has donated funds for the establishment of the George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources Department Award. The award is available to students in the B144 and B154 programs in their second year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must display leadership skills

George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources Department Recruitment & Selection Award

Nancy Hood, George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources, has donated funds for the establishment of the George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources Department Recruitment & Selection Award. The award is available to students in the B144 and B154 programs in their second year of study.

George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources Department Workplace Health & Safety Award

Nancy Hood, George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources, has donated funds for the establishment of the George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources Department Workplace Health & Safety Award. The award is available to students in the B144 and B154 programs in their third year of study.

George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources Department Workplace Ready Award

Nancy Hood, George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources, has donated funds for the establishment of the George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources Department Workplace Ready Award. The award is available to students in the B408 program in any year of study.

Hans Schafer Financial Services Endowment

This fund was created to support the advancement of the education of students at the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts, School of Marketing and Financial Services.

Eligibility Criteria:

Registered, full-time domestic student

  • Resident in Ontario for 12 months prior to enrollment
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Enrolled in:
    • B107: Business Administration – Accounting
    • B157: Business Administration – Accounting (with coop)
    • B130: Business Administration – Finance
    • B150: Business Administration – Finance (with coop)
    • B302: Honours Bachelor of Commerce
  • Must be in the 3rd year of studies
  • Demonstrated academic proficiency with a minimum program GPA of 3.0
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through various means such as community volunteer services

Healthy Planet Scholarship — CFB

Beginning in the fall semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, Healthy Planet Canada is offering one (1) award of $5,000 to one (1) full-time student enrolled in the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts, School of Marketing and Financial Services in the following programs:

  • Business-Marketing Program (B120)
  • Business Administration – Marketing (B108)
  • Business Administration – Marketing (With Work Experience) (B158)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Registered, full-time domestic or international student
  • Have submitted an application for full-time studies at George Brown Polytechnic and received a George Brown Polytechnic student number
  • Must demonstrate financial need

HR Graduate Certificate Scholarship

Nancy Hood, George Brown Polytechnic Human Resources, has donated funds for the establishment of the HR Graduate Certificate Scholarship. The award is available to students in the B408 program in any year of study.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must display financial need

Hubert and Eulalee King Scholarship

Kevin King has donated funds for the establishment of the Hubert and Eulalee King Scholarship. The award is available to students in the B108 and B158 programs in any year of study.

L & A Promotions Student Scholarship

L & A Promotions has donated funds for the establishment of the L & A Promotions Student Scholarship. The scholarship is available to full-time students in any program within the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts School of Marketing and Financial Services who meet the following criteria:

  • Domestic Student
  • Student must display financial need
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Student must exhibit a strong interest and spirit of dedication to marketing and promotions

Laurel Walzak Woman in Sport Award

Laurel Walzak has donated funds for the establishment of the Laurel Walzak Woman in Sport Award. The award is available to female student in the Sports and Event Marketing Program B400 final semester.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Recipient will have the potential to distinguish herself in a career related to sport, sports entertainment or event, or sports' media
  • Preference is given to a female student as a way of giving female student equal opportunity to pursue a career the in sports, sports' entrainment or sports' media industry

Michael "Pinball" Clemons Foundation - Sport and Event Marketing Award

Michael "Pinball" Clemons Foundation has donated funds for the establishment of the Michael "Pinball" Clemons Foundation - Sport and Event Marketing Award. The award is available to students in the B400 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must display financial need

Mike Fenton Leadership in Supply Chain Award

Mike J. Fenton has donated funds for the establishment of the Mike Fenton Leadership in Supply Chain Award. The award is available for the students in the B122, B162, B121, and B151 programs.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be in their second or third year
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through various means such as volunteer community service
  • Exhibits a strong interest in Supply Chain and Operation Marketing

MLSE Award of Excellence

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd has donated funds for the establishment of the MLSE Award of Excellence. The award is available to students in the B400 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must show aptitude for the sport, entertainment and event marketing industries and exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills

Manulife Scholarship

Manulife Financial on Behalf of Peter Marlatt has donated funds for the establishment of the Peter Marlatt Scholarship. The award is available to students in all Financial Services programs in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must display financial need

Scotiabank Endowment for the School of Business

Scotiabank has donated funds for the establishment of the Scotiabank Endowment for the School of Business. The award is available to students in all BFS programs in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must display financial need
  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)

Scotia Global Wealth Management Scholarship Program

The Scotiabank Global Wealth Management Sponsorship Program is a partnership between Scotiabank and George Brown Polytechnic, awarding ten (10) students each with a $5,000 scholarship along with a job opportunity (co-op/internship) in Scotiabank’s Wealth Management business in Summer 2023 (May 1st – August 25th 2023).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Registered, full-time domestic or international students who are permitted to work full-time in Canada
  • Students are enrolled in a full-time diploma or degree program at the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts as
  • Students must self-identify as being from an equity deserving group, such as: Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, Women, People living with a Disability, and/or LGBTQ+
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and have successfully completed BUS 1000 or BCOP1000

Scotia Global Wealth Management Sponsorship Program

The Bank of Nova Scotia would like to designate Ten (10) awards to students starting for the 2022/2023 academic year. These Ten (10) awards of $5,000 each will be presented to ten (10) full-time students at George Brown Polytechnic. The Ten (10) awards will be distributed following the completion of the Winter 2023 semester and upon commencing work placement at Scotiabank.

Students will be selected with the following criteria:

  • Registered, full-time, domestic or international students permitted to work full-time in Canada
  • Students are enrolled in a full-time diploma or degree program at the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts as outlined in Appendix B of this agreement.
  • Students must self-identify as being from equity deserving groups with a preference for students who self-identify as being Black, Indigenous, and/or living with a disability.
  • Applicants/students who are offered an internship placement must sign an employment agreement with Donor in accordance with the Donor’s employment policies and procedures prior to the start date of their internship placement.

SDI Sport & Event Marketing

SDI Marketing has donated funds for the establishment of the SDI Sport & Event Marketing. The award is available to students in the B400 program in any year of study.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Stephanie Joseph-Flatts Leadership in Marketing Scholarship

Stephanie Joseph Flatts has donated funds for the establishment of the Stephanie Joseph-Flatts Leadership in Marketing Scholarship. This Fall semester award supports Black students in their final year of a full-time marketing program who demonstrates a commitment to pursuing the field of marketing.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Student must identify as Black
  • Student must be enrolled in their final year of any full-time marketing program at the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts
  • Student must demonstrate passion and a commitment to pursuing the field of marketing.

The Anu and Seay Harder "Glass Ceiling" Award

The Anu and Seay Harder has donated for the establishment of The Anu and Seay Harder "Glass Ceiling" Award. This Award is available for full-time students in the Center for Business.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Enrolled in any program in the School of Management at the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts
  • First Generation Student

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) in Canada (ACCA) Scholarship

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) in Canada (ACCA) (“the Donor”) has agreed to contributions in the total amount of $6,000 towards a yearly expendable award.

The gift is specifically designated to the School of Marketing and Financial Services at George Brown Polytechnic, Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Registered, full-time domestic and/or international students
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Must be in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must demonstrate community involvement
  • Enrolled in one of the following programs:
    • Business – Accounting (B103)
    • Business Administration – Accounting (B107)
    • Business Administration – Accounting (with work experience) (B157)

The Joe Freedman Award for Excellent in Project Management Studies

Joe Freedman has donated for the establishment of The Joe Freedman Award for Excellent in Project Management Studies. The award is available to students in the B415 program.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and teamwork spirit through various means such as taking on a leadership role in group project and actively supporting other group members

The Love & Whalen Leadership Award

The Love & Whalen Leadership Award has donated for the establishment of The Love & Whalen Leadership Award. This award is available for students full-time in the Center for Business.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Student has achieved academic excellence, and GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Demonstrated involvement in entrepreneurial activities including, but not limited to the George Brown Polytechnic Enactus team, with preference given to those in a leadership capacity (i.e. Project Manager)
  • Student must display financial need

Toron Scholarship (Cidel Asset Management Scholarship)

Toron Investment Management has donated funds for the establishment of the Toron Scholarship. The award is available to students in the B301 and B321 programs in their fourth year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.3
  • Student must display financial need
  • The student must be actively involved in the Community (college and/or external)

TR Lee & Art Whitaker Leadership Award

TR Lee and Art Whitaker have donated funds for the establishment of the TR Lee & Art Whitaker Leadership Award. This award is available to full-time domestic students, enrolled in any program at the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant to be eligible for this award:

  • Student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater;
  • Student must display financial need;
  • Student must submit an essay describing how they have contributed to the community and/or their past experiences to undertaking studies at George Brown Polytechnic.

TSN Award of Excellence

TSN has donated funds for the establishment of the TSN Award of Excellence. The award is available to students in the B400 program in any year of study, who shows excellent understanding of the sports marketing industry

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Design

Albina Skibicka Bursary

Laurentian Technomedia Inc has donated funds for the establishment of the Albina Skibicka Bursary. The award is available to students in the G102 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must have demonstrated excellence in magazine page layout

Canadian Rotographics Limited Scholarship

Canadian Rotographics Limited has donated funds for the establishment of Canadian Rotographics Limited Scholarship. The award is available to full-time and/or part-time students in the School of Design.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Demonstrates academic excellence with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Student is in their final year of study
  • Student shows an inspiring talent for Design but is at risk of dropping out due to personal or financial hardships

Certain Affinity Game Developer Scholarship

One (1) award of $2,500 will be presented to one (1) full-time student at George Brown Polytechnic with the following criteria:

  • Must be a registered, full-time domestic student, who is one of the following:
    • A Canadian citizen
    • A permanent resident of Canada
  • Student must be enrolled in their second or third year, in one of the following Game Development programs at George Brown Polytechnic:
    • Game – Art (G119)
    • Game - Programming Program (T163)
  • Student must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Institution’s policies.
  • Based on Certain Affinity’s core value, to strive for excellence, the student must be in good academic standing with a minimum program GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Based on Certain Affinity’s core value to continuously evolve, the student must exhibit a strong interest and commitment to their field of study through their extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and involvement in the classroom.
  • Based on Certain Affinity’s core value to be kind, considerate, and embrace diversity, preference will be given to a student who self-identifies as being from one of the equity-deserving groups, including women, persons with disabilities, racialized persons (BIPOC), persons from diverse gender identities and persons who identify as 2SLGBTQ+.

Francis Mak Memorial Scholarship

The School of Design has donated funds for the establishment of the Francis Mak Memorial Scholarship. The award is available to students in any design program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must be open to working with others
  • Student must demonstrate that they have overcome obstacles in the pursuit of higher education

George and Dorothy Dilworth Graphic Arts Scholarship

Dennis Smith has donated funds for the establishment of the George and Dorothy Dilworth Graphic Arts Scholarship. The award is available to students in the Graphic Arts and Design programs in their second year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must demonstrate that they have high aptitude and scope for further development of technical aspects and conceptual skills needed to create high-impact graphic arts and design.

Melissa Quan Memorial Award

Ronald Quan/Myrna Velasco-Quan has donated funds for the establishment of the Melissa Quan Memorial Award. This award is available to any registered George Brown Polytechnic Student in the Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts in any year of study for the following program(s): T163, G119

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student has overcome obstacles to undertake their studies at George Brown Polytechnic
  • The student must display passion for their field of study
  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)

Randy Johnson Memorial Award

This Award was established to support the advancement of the education of students at the College. The award will be given to students in the School of Design who demonstrates a talent and passion for wayfinding and design.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled full-time in George Brown Polytechnic School of Design.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Must exhibit a strong interest and commitment to their field of study through their extra-curricular activities, volunteer work, and involvement in the classroom.

School of Design Scholarship

The School of Design has donated funds for the establishment of the School of Design Scholarship. The award is available to students in the G102 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must be open to working with others and have demonstrated that they have overcome obstacles in the pursuit of higher education.

Shelley Warsh Memorial Scholarship

The gift is specifically designated to students enrolled at George Brown Polytechnic’s Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts, in the School of Design.

Every year if the fund supports it, one (1) award of $500 will be presented to one (1) full-time student at George Brown Polytechnic with the following criteria:

COBMEX® has generously donated funds for the establishment of the COBMEX® Excellence in Uniform Apparel Scholarship. The award is available to students in the School of Design, studying Fashion Business Industry, fashion Management, or Fashion Techniques and Design. The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Student demonstrates financial need as determined by the Institution’s policies
  • Student must demonstrate a passion for their field of study as well as advocacy for sustainable practices in the fashion and textile industries

In addition, students must submit a 500-750 word essay exploring how form and function can be integrated in uniform design to enhance both visual appeal with practical performance for wearers in corporate or public safety settings.

The award is available to Indigenous students in all Culinary Programs, who are enrolled in their second semester or later. The successful student must hold a minimum GPA of 2.7 or higher, and demonstrate leadership skills both in and out of the classroom.

The Adtek Building Consultants Indigenous Scholarship

This gift is specifically designated to the School of Architecture Studies. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Registered, full-time domestic and/or international student
  • Have applied for full-time studies at George Brown Polytechnic' and received a George Brown student number
  • Must be registered in Architectural Technology Program (T109/T169)
  • Must exhibit passion or enthusiasm in field of study
  • Must demonstrate and exceptional and applied interest in Indigenous heritage and culture as part of their program of study (including but not limited to) i.e. program coursework, co-op/internship, and/or applied research or particular project

Toronto Cider Festival Award for Special Events

Toronto Cider Festival (Ijazali Jamal) has donated funds for the establishment of the Toronto Cider Festival Award for Special Events. This award is available to any registered George Brown Polytechnic Student in the Chef School in any year of study for the following program(s): H131

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must maintain a 3.0 Min GPA or higher
  • Domestic student
  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)
  • Preference for student who has volunteered at the Toronto Cider Festival

TrainCan Food Safety Award - Award 1

TrainCan Inc. has donated funds for the establishment of the TrainCan Food Safety Award. This award is awarded to a student in one of the following programs H100, H102, H103, H108, H112, H113, H116, H130 or H131. This award is for a second-year or graduating student with the highest mark in the basic food safety course.

TrainCan Inc. has donated funds for the establishment of the TrainCan Food Safety Award. This award is awarded to a student in the H402 program in any year of study.

This award is for the student with the highest mark in the advanced food safety Certification Course.

Tony Jelenic Scholarship

Mr. Anton Jelenic has donated funds for the establishment of the Tony Jelenic Scholarship. The award is available to students in all Hospitality Programs in any year of study.

The student must self-identify as an Aboriginal student (First Nations, Métis, Inuit, or otherwise part of the indigenous peoples of Canada) and demonstrate financial need.

Tony Mili Culinary Award

Friends of Tony Mili have donated funds for the establishment of the Tony Mili Culinary Award. The award is available to students in the H100 program in their first year of study. The student must demonstrate creativity, entrepreneurial initiative, and commitment to excellence.

Travellers' Aid Society Centennial Bursary

Traveller's Aid Society has donated funds for the establishment of the Travellers' Aid Society Centennial Bursary. The award is available to students in all Hospitality Programs in any year of study. The student must have helpful, friendly and supportive qualities.

Unilever Scholarship

Unilever has donated funds for the establishment of the Unilever Scholarship. The award is available to students in all Culinary Programs in any year of study. The student must have demonstrated a dedication to their field of study and have overcome obstacles to undertake their studies.

The Villa Charities Culinary Scholarship - Supported in part by The Food Dudes

Villa Charities Foundation has donated funds for the establishment of The Villa Charities Culinary Scholarship – Supported in part by the Food Dudes. This award is for students enrolled in the Chef School.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Enrolled in the 1st year of the Italian Program (Postgraduate) (H411)
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities through various means, such as volunteer community service.
  • Exhibits strong interest in their field of study and has a passion for future academic and professional goals in relation to Italian heritage and culture.

Wiley Leadership in Nutrition Award

Wiley Canada has donated funds for the establishment of the Wiley Leadership in Nutrition Award. The award is available to students in all Culinary Programs in any year of study. The student will have the highest overall mark. One award will be presented in each of the fall and winter semesters.

William & Nona Heaslip Foundation Scholarship

William & Nona Heaslip has donated funds for the establishment of the William & Nona Heaslip Foundation Scholarship. The award is available to students in all Hospitality Programs in any year of study. The student will strive for self-improvement and demonstrate creativity, leadership and organizational skills.

Wusthof Scholarship

Wusthof-Trident of Canada has donated funds for the establishment of the Wusthof Scholarship. The award is available to students in any culinary program in any year of study. The student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and is self-motivated, passionate about learning and demonstrate higher than average abilities in their chosen area of professional study.

Yes Chef! Scholarship

Chef School has donated funds for the establishment of the Yes Chef! Scholarship. The award is available to students in all CHCA Programs in any year of study. The student must have leadership qualities, have demonstrated a commitment to working with others, and have job-related social skills, including a positive attitude, enthusiasm and respect.
