George Brown Polytechnic’s Waterfront Campus welcomed provincial leaders, industry executives and partners as host of the Ontario Mining Association (OMA) Annual General Meeting—spotlighting Ontario’s growing strength as a global leader in mining and critical minerals.

George Brown Polytechnic students delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Skills Ontario Competition, earning five gold medals, one silver, and two bronze across multiple disciplines.

George Brown’s Work-Integrated Learning and Career Services teams came together in April to host two end-of-year career fairs that connected students directly with employers across key industries, bringing together students, employers, and industry partners.

City of Toronto Councillor Josh Matlow visited George Brown’s Casa Loma Campus for a guided tour of teaching labs and facilities, followed by a discussion of the campus’s role in supporting learners and the surrounding community.

George Brown Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician and Technology programs delivered outstanding performances at the 2026 Canadian Mechanical & Plumbing Expo (CMPX), taking the podium across post-secondary skills competitions.

George Brown Polytechnic and the Schulich Builders Scholarship program are helping create pathways to success for the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

Maciej Zausz, a second-year student in the Construction Engineering Technician program, was selected as one of 25 students from across North America to receive a competitive IIBEC sponsorship to attend the 2025 Building Enclosure Symposium in St. Louis.

In October, George Brown proudly welcomed 20 youth and young adults with an interest in pursuing careers in the skilled trades on Thursday, October 10, for the annual Building Opportunities for Life Today (BOLT) Day of Discovery.
