Angela Elter, MA

Biography

Angela Elter is a costume professional, educator, and tailor with more than 40 years of experience in pattern drafting, garment construction, and costume production. A graduate of Sheridan College’s Fashion Technique & Design program, she also holds a Master of Arts in Learning and Technology from Royal Roads University.

Angela has been teaching fashion studies since 1998 and joined the George Brown Polytechnic faculty in 2008. Her teaching combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary industry practices, drawing from extensive experience in both education and film production.

In addition to teaching, Angela works in film and television as a Lead Costume Cutter and member of IATSE 873. In this role, she collaborates closely with Costume Designers to develop and produce costumes for major productions while managing professional sewing rooms and supervising teams of costume makers. Angela also maintains an active creative practice through @eltelier, where she shares her design work, garment construction process, and costumes from productions she has worked on. She believes ongoing professional practice is essential to bringing current industry knowledge, craftsmanship, and innovation into the classroom.
