George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
The course is primarily designed for high beginner to low-intermediate students who want to improve conversational language skills and gain confidence in speaking English through discussions and public speaking. Students will learn how to communicate clearly and effectively through active participation in informal oral conversations, formal debates, and group presentations offered in a supportive class setting. Students will also expand their vocabulary and enhance their speaking and listening skills by watching videos and sharing experiences on topics including identity, technology, social issues, people and culture.
Prerequisites: You must have completed ESL 9028 or you must score high enough on the placement test to be assigned to ESL 9090.
