Biography

Bienvenido Isla is an academic leader with strong technical expertise and solid business judgement. His strong technical tax, accounting and finance knowledge and skills have been acquired through more than 15 years of advisory services and strategic leadership to emerging and multinational companies on their global tax and financial strategies. His demonstrated competencies and professional experience in financial accounting, corporate finance, tax technology development, project management consulting, tax compliance and planning; his liaison experience with authorities and outside service providers in resolving complex tax issues; and his demonstrated research work under the Canada Income tax Act, Excise Tax Act, Internal Revenue Code, International Tax Treaties, IFRS and US/local GAAP were attained through years of professional practice.

Professor Isla joined George Brown College with more than 12 concurrent years of academic teaching experience attained as a lecturer in the CGA accounting accreditation program and at other leading Ontario colleges. He has taught taxation, financial accounting, business finance, mathematics and economics courses at the degree, graduate certificate and diploma levels and has acquired broad understanding in the areas of adult education, leadership in change, distance education and electronic-delivery teaching techniques and technologies.
