Biography

As Associate Vice-President, Academic – Program Quality, Development and Integration, Juanita Wattam-Simeon leads the Office of Academic Excellence where she oversees strategic program planning and institutional academic quality, standards, and policies. 

Juanita has held progressive leadership roles at George Brown for more than two decades, including the Director, Academic Quality role in which she led strategic operations and academic policy development for more than 170 programs and advanced academic excellence through academic quality process improvements, program development processes and faculty engagement. 

Between 2014 and 2016, Juanita led the institution-wide student retention strategy that identified root causes of attrition and implemented student retention and persistence plans to improve student success. 

Juanita also brings a wealth of experience as an educator to her role, with nine years of teaching in George Brown’s Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Community Services and Interdisciplinary Studies. 

Juanita holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English Literature, both from the University of Toronto, as well as a Diploma in Computer Graphics from Seneca College.
