Meet the startGBC #WhyNotMe July 2026 Entrepreneur Spotlight: Burak Korucu, CEO, Visioom Inc.
startGBC is amazing to be part of, simply because of the incredible minds we get to support and interact with. This month, we highlight a wonderful entrepreneur, who we have had the pleasure of being part of their journey for several years. A powerful reminder that the first business idea might be the one you launch.
Meet Burak Korucu, founder of Visioom Inc., a modular home company. But the first idea Burak brought to startGBC was the capture of thermal heat for redeployment. Through secondary and primary research, Burak soon validated that this idea couldn’t translate to a commercial success. But in true entrepreneur spirit, Burack, through the support of his wife, soon found a new direction and voila, Visioom Inc. was born.
Visioom Inc. is an Oakville-based company designing and building modular backyard homes — premium, permitted garden suites that add a complete second home to a property anywhere in Ontario. Founded by engineer Burak Korucu, Visioom grew out of a personal frustration: when his own family needed more space, every option — move, renovate, overspend — felt like a compromise. So, he approached it the way an engineer would and built a better system. The idea is simple: a home should adapt to you, not the other way around. Each Visioom is configured to your life, your land, and your budget, using a Canadian-sourced steel frame that allows real per-lot flexibility without the cost and delay of full-custom building. The product line spans the flagship Backyard Home and the compact, permit-free Backyard Room. See a real, walk-through demo unit at the Oakville showroom, or book a free lot review at visioom.com.
About Burak
Burak Korucu is an engineer and father of two based in Oakville. He spent years in project management — most recently at CSA Group. While looking for a better housing option for his own growing family, he began developing the model that would become Visioom. In January 2025, he left his full-time career to build it full-time, and today leads the company as Founder and CEO, with a showroom and walk-through demo home in Oakville, Ontario.
Academic Background
George Brown Polytechnic Project Management, 2019 and BSc. in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, Istanbul Technical University.
What made you want to become an entrepreneur?
I always wanted to build something of my own. I had plenty of ideas over the years, but this one was different — it answered a real need in the world I'm living in. Not just my problem, but one many families share. And it had a proven approach from around the world to learn from. That combination — a genuine need and a path others had already validated — it is what finally made me commit. You only ever find out by starting.
Why did you create your business?
Because I believe a home should adapt to you — your life, your land, your budget — not the other way around. Ontario opened the door for backyard homes, but no one had defined what a genuinely good one looks like. I created Visioom to set that standard: premium, properly engineered, Canadian-made homes that families would actually be proud to live in.
What successes have you enjoyed so far with building your company?
The biggest milestone is turning the idea into something real: a leased showroom with a full walk-through demo home built inside it, in Oakville, so people can stand in a Visioom before they buy. Securing financing, assembling a team around one clear process, and reaching the launch of the business have all been proof that the model works — and we're just getting started.
What is one piece of advice you would give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
There's never a perfect time. You only find out by starting. Life moves fast — take the risk, one step at a time.

Anything else you would like to share?
Don't wait until you feel ready — you won't. Solve a problem you understand personally, learn from people who've done it before, and let the plan sharpen as you build. Momentum teaches you more than planning ever will.
