George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
What if your daily commute took you past some of Toronto's most recognizable landmarks? Or your next study break meant grabbing a bite at a local bakery before heading down to the waterfront?
At George Brown Polytechnic, that's all part of the experience. With three campuses in downtown Toronto, there's plenty to discover beyond the classroom.
Get closer to the industries you want to work in
Toronto is home to major employers across a wide range of industries, from hospitals and financial institutions to creative studios and restaurants. Studying downtown puts you closer to the action.
At George Brown, you won't just learn about your field in the classroom. Depending on your program, you could gain real-world experience through field placements, internships, applied research, and other work-integrated learning opportunities.
Studying downtown also puts you closer to industry events and networking opportunities, helping you start building professional connections while you're still in school.
Three campuses, three different Toronto experiences
Each of George Brown's three campuses offers a different side of downtown Toronto. Here's what you'll find around each one.
St. James Campus
In the heart of historic Toronto
At St. James Campus, you're in one of Toronto's oldest neighbourhoods, where historic architecture sits alongside a thriving food scene.
The famous St. Lawrence Market is a local favourite for lunch, with vendors serving everything from freshly baked pastries to dishes from around the world. Nearby St. James Park offers some welcome green space, while the Distillery District is worth exploring for its shops, galleries, and cobblestone streets.
Casa Loma Campus
A little greenery, a lot of character
Surrounded by tree-lined streets and historic architecture, Casa Loma Campus offers a different side of downtown Toronto.
Independent cafés, restaurants, and shops line the nearby streets, while Nordheimer Ravine offers wooded trails when you need a break from the city buzz.
And the campus's namesake? Casa Loma, Toronto's famous hilltop castle, is just a short walk away.
Waterfront Campus
Your classroom meets the lake
Imagine wrapping up class and stepping outside to views of Lake Ontario. At Waterfront Campus, the city's shoreline is part of your everyday surroundings, with Sugar Beach’s sandy shores and pink umbrellas and the green spaces of Sherbourne Common just steps away.
Even the campus buildings are worth a closer look. Limberlost Place, our award-winning, 10-storey mass-timber building, brings sustainable design to life right on the waterfront.
Get a taste of what's possible
Ever wondered where your education could take you? Around downtown Toronto, you'll find plenty of examples of George Brown talent in action.
At The Chefs' House, culinary and hospitality students put their skills to work in a public-facing restaurant. In the Distillery District, aspiring actors train and perform at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts alongside the professional theatre company Soulpepper.
And close to St. James Campus, you’ll find Roselle Desserts and Tangssant Viennoiserie, two neighbourhood bakeries founded by George Brown graduates serving up some seriously good pastries.
