As Toronto’s student housing market continues to tighten, George Brown Polytechnic (GBP) is taking meaningful action to support students by expanding access to safe, inclusive, and community‑focused housing options. A new partnership with Parkside Student Residence will provide George Brown students with additional housing opportunities beyond its existing residence, The George, helping to remove barriers and reduce the stress of finding accommodation in the city.

Through this partnership, Parkside will become an affiliated residence for George Brown, providing students with access to a dedicated GBP community within a purpose-built student living environment in downtown Toronto. This arrangement offers greater flexibility for students who might otherwise face long waitlists or limited choices, ensuring more learners can find housing that supports their academic and personal success.

“Finding a safe, welcoming place to live is foundational to student success,” said Ian Wigglesworth, Associate Vice‑President, Student Success. “This partnership is about meeting students where they are—offering more choice, more support, and a clear path to housing so they can focus on learning, belonging, and thriving at George Brown.”

Connected student experience—on and off campus

Under the new model, students living at Parkside will stay closely connected to the George Brown community. A dedicated GBP cohort within the residence will be supported by Student Success and campus partners to help residents remain engaged with George Brown’s resources, services, and peer networks—even while living off-site.

Located equally distant from George Brown’s main campuses, Parkside provides a centrally located, transit-accessible option for students navigating downtown Toronto. The residence features fully furnished suites, modern amenities, a meal plan, and purpose-designed spaces for studying, socializing, and wellness, including collaborative study lounges, fitness facilities, and community gathering areas.

A shared commitment to student well‑being

For Parkside, the affiliation reinforces a shared commitment to creating environments where students can thrive—academically, socially, and personally.

“We’re proud to partner with George Brown Polytechnic to provide students with a trusted and high‑quality housing option in the heart of downtown Toronto,” said Daniel Travieso, General Manager, Parkside Student Residence. “Our goal is to create a vibrant, inclusive environment where students thrive academically and socially, and this affiliation strengthens that commitment.”

Investing in access, belonging, and student success

The partnership demonstrates George Brown’s broader commitment to removing barriers and addressing real student needs—especially as housing affordability and availability continue to challenge learners across the city. By leveraging strong partnerships and proximity within Toronto’s downtown core, George Brown continues to explore innovative ways to improve the student experience beyond the classroom.

Together, George Brown and Parkside are creating new pathways to housing that focus on stability, connection, and student success—helping more learners feel supported as they build their futures in one of Canada’s most vibrant urban environments.
