Pinball Clemons Foundation Establishes Scholarships for Indigenous Learners

The Pinball Clemons Foundation recently donated $96,000 to support 32 students at George Brown College for the 2020-2021 academic year. This generous gift is focused on supporting students that self-identify as Indigenous, as well as supporting those students experiencing financial need.

Jennifer Branco, Executive Director at the Pinball Clemons Foundation stated, “This gift is aimed to support students that experience social and financial obstacles in their pursuit of post-secondary education. The Pinball Clemons Foundation is dedicated to providing marginalized youth with the resources required to excel in their studies and life beyond the classroom.”

Besides supporting students across George Brown College, the Pinball Clemons Foundation will also provide scholarship recipients with the opportunity to join its unique mentorship program that seeks to find gainful employment for mentees post-graduation.

To adequately connect both scholarship and mentorship opportunities to George Brown College’s Indigenous student body, the GBC Indigenous Education and Services office was closely involved with this gift. “It is so important to create strong relationships with community and industry partners like the Pinball Clemons Foundation.” said Jennifer Campeau, Director of Indigenous Initiatives at George Brown College. “We are grateful to the Foundation for this gift and for its focus on the success of the Indigenous community at GBC.”

Dr. Cindy Gouveia, President of the George Brown College Foundation stated, “The longstanding support that George Brown College students have received from the Pinball Clemons Foundation is something that the College deeply values. We are thankful for not only the financial support, but also the mentorship experiences that the Pinball Clemons Foundation has pledged to provide.”
