Meet Gervan Fearon

I am excited and proud to be celebrating the beginning of the academic year with each of you as the new President of George Brown College. Although I started just one month ago, the students and employees that I have met have all made me feel incredibly welcomed and, already, I am developing a strong sense of connectedness to the college.

I now have the honour of extending a warm welcome and welcome back as we kick off the Fall semester. Whether you are joining us on campus, online or through a hybrid approach, this is going to be a fantastic year. I look forward to all of our shared accomplishments as colleagues and a team.

One of the things I love most about George Brown College is the sense of possibility it creates for all our students. Every year, we help thousands of students pursue their career goals, while helping local employers attract new talent and conduct vital research. I grew up in Toronto and I have seen how George Brown transforms lives, opening new doors to opportunity for students, their families and the broader community. This is a very special place to learn, work and grow, and I am proud to share this journey with you.

The new academic year brings new personal and professional growth opportunities for employees and students. I hope you will explore the many ways you can contribute meaningfully to our community, and share ideas, knowledge and experiences. A great place to start is GBCommunity, our employee website, where you will find college news and updates, digital tools, and ways to connect with your colleagues.

I encourage you to keep an eye on George Brown’s homepage, where we will soon be launching our “Get to Know Gervan” video series. In it, I will tell you more about why I am excited to join George Brown, my connections to Toronto, and what I hope we can achieve together in the future. I also look forward to getting to know you more, celebrating your accomplishments and sharing in the effort to make contributions to our students, communities and partners.

I wish you all the best for the year ahead.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gervan Fearon

President
