As we navigate the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Building Opportunities for Life (BOLT) Foundation remains steadfast in its support of students at George Brown College’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies through the creation of scholarships. In the 2021-2022 academic year, BOLT will provide seven deserving students with newly established scholarships totaling $21,000, to help them succeed in their educational journey.

Students selected for this award will also be given the opportunity to engage with BOLT outside of the classroom. BOLT’s Day of Discovery will continue to be offered to scholarship recipients, allowing them to participate in a half-day visit to a construction site. Additionally, mentorship meetings and job shadowing opportunities will be provided to these students, giving them invaluable insight into the construction industry.

BOLT’s new gift of seven awards, makes a total of 252 scholarships that BOLT has given to George Brown College students since 2009.

“We want young people in our community to have the resources they need to attend and succeed in school. Beyond financial assistance, we want to support these students as they navigate their studies and career opportunities in the construction industry,” noted Leo DelZotto, Founder of BOLT; Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tridel.

“The students we meet at George Brown College continue to display dedication and passion to succeed in their studies. We want to help them find meaningful careers in the construction industry,” said Raly Chakarova, Executive Director at BOLT.

Anne Sado, President of George Brown College stated, “BOLT’s commitment to our students has been inspirational. Even through the unique and unforeseen challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, BOLT has remained focused on helping our students achieve their educational and career goals. Thank you BOLT for your longstanding support.”
