Temporary passwords are sent to your email when you apply for a full-time George Brown Polytechnic program or register for a Continuing Education course or program. Once you have received that, you must reset your password. Please find your respective processes below:
For applicants:
- Once we receive your application, we email an acknowledgement letter with your student ID number and another email with a temporary password.
- Follow the instructions here to reset your password using service.georgebrown.ca.
- Please note: George Brown’s Microsoft suite (including its password reset tool) is only available to registered students.
For full-time registered students:
- You should have reset your password after receiving your temporary password.
- Follow the instructions here to reset your password using either service.georgebrown.ca or Microsoft’s Self-Serve Password Reset.
For Continuing Education registered students:
- Once we receive your registration, we send an email with your student ID number and another email with a temporary password.
- Follow the instructions here to reset your password using either service.georgebrown.ca or Microsoft’s Self-Serve Password Reset.

Please note that George Brown uses Single Sign On service (SSO) which allows students and employees to use a single User ID (i.e. your GBP ID) and password to log in to online services (STU-VIEW, Brightspace) and resources (LLC wireless access). Password changes will therefore be reflected across all GBP services and resources.
