The School of Architectural Studies’ (SAS) three-year Architectural Technology program prepares students to develop into architectural technologists who play a key role in transforming architectural designs into technical construction documents and practical building solutions. This multi-year program equips students with a solid foundation in building design, construction methods, materials, building codes and regulations, sustainable practices, digital practices and software in CAD, digital project delivery, and 3D visualization as well as the latest digital technologies such as 3D laser scanning, digital photogrammetry and aerial reality capture using drones.

Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on studio projects, students develop technical skills in preparing drawings, specifications, cost estimates and other documentation required for residential, commercial, industrial and institutional building projects. The curriculum covers areas such as building science, project management, detailing, site planning and the integration of various building systems.

Graduates are trained to collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors and other professionals in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry. They contribute to the design process, construction documentation, project coordination and on-site supervision. The program prepares students for entry-level roles such as architectural technologists, digital project delivery co-ordinators, junior designers, estimators and project coordinators in various roles within the architecture, engineering and construction industries, as well as government agencies, and related organizations, contributing to the successful execution of building projects from concept to completion.

The three-year Interior Design advanced diploma program prepares you for a future in the interior design industry. This program not only helps you become a valuable member of a design team, but also gives you life skills that go well beyond the world of design.

Each semester, your main studio courses teach you how to develop conceptual designs for residential and commercial spaces, how to represent designs in 2D and 3D using a broad range of architectural drawing programs and how to communicate design intentions using construction drawings. In your project work, you’ll incorporate building code, sustainability, accessibility, lighting, textiles, furniture, colour and ergonomics. Although selection of finishes is part of what we do, this is not a decorating program.

Gain expertise in advanced power and control systems in the three-year Electromechanical Engineering Technology – Power and Control advanced diploma program. Developed in collaboration with Toronto Hydro, this program combines theoretical and practical experience, enabling you to work in a wide variety of electrical engineering areas, including power and control systems, utilities, industrial automation and robotics, instrumentation and process control. The curriculum incorporates theory, applications, practical experience and safety practices from power systems, utilities, manufacturing, control system, automation and computer industries. You’ll also learn about a variety of concepts from the sciences and humanities to boost your knowledge.

The construction industry is one of Canada’s largest employers, and the demand for construction managers continues to grow. Our three-year Construction Engineering Technology advanced diploma program will provide you with the technical, business and interpersonal skills needed to manage construction projects of varying sizes and complexity, while emphasizing sustainable construction practices.

This three-year Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology advanced diploma program provides you with an understanding of the factors involved in designing, building, controlling and maintaining energy-efficient building environmental systems. The first two years of the program will give you practical skills through hands-on projects in the shops. You’ll work on a wide range of furnaces, air conditioners, refrigeration equipment and other appliances in our labs. In the third year, you’ll focus more on commercial systems, giving you a well-rounded knowledge base to succeed in the HVAC industry.

The Computer Programming and Analysis (Online) three-year advanced diploma program offers comprehensive programming and IT analysis training. As a graduate of this program, you’ll have a solid foundation to advance your career in the dynamic and constantly evolving world of IT.

This program is fully online, including lectures, exams and class projects. This allows you to:

• Study online from the comfort of home while joining other students across Canada in live, instructor-led classes.
• Access the knowledge and expertise of faculty members embedded in Toronto’s rapidly growing tech industry.
• Develop professional skills in a format convenient to you and your busy weekday commitments.

PLEASE NOTE: This is an online-only program open to domestic students. Regular in-person delivery and international eligibility are available through our Computer Programming and Analysis (T177) program.

The Child and Youth Care program will prepare you to work effectively with children, adolescents and families who are experiencing social, emotional, developmental and behavioural challenges. The program integrates a holistic approach embedding an ecological perspective and principles of human rights, anti-oppressive practice, resiliency and restorative practice.

The Dental Hygiene program will teach you the competencies and skills required to practise as a dental hygienist in the province of Ontario. This program focuses on developing interpersonal communication skills and professionalism while providing dental hygiene care.

George Brown Polytechnic’s Denturism program will educate you within the guidelines of the denturist’s scope of practice. This includes assessment, treatment planning, design, fabrication and maintenance of various dental prostheses and oral devices.

George Brown Polytechnic’s Dental Technology program will teach you the specialized skills of a dental technologist, including how to design and fabricate various oral devices that have been prescribed to a patient by a regulated dental practitioner (often a dentist). Throughout this program, you will learn to make a range of dental appliances such as full dentures, partial dentures, crowns, bridges, implant-related restorations, orthodontic appliances and other specialty items.

In the Hearing Instrument Specialist program you will learn the specialized skills required to work as a hearing health-care professional. You will develop people skills and will learn how to use the latest technology to assess appropriate hearing solutions for those in need. For applicants with a relevant degree or diploma, we offer an opportunity for advanced standing into semester 3 of the program.

The Theatre Arts – Performance advanced diploma program will help turn your dream of becoming a professional actor into a reality. We’ll guide you through rigorous training in the fundamentals, practicalities, traditions and professionalism you need to become a versatile performer who’s ready to step into the spotlight in theatre, TV or film.
