George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
Vince Thomson, the founder of the De La Salle Fund, has had a lifelong passion for education and a special commitment to making education accessible to immigrants, refugees and students in financial need. In 1998, he established the fund with a donation of $5,000 – a significant gift for a pensioner living on a fixed income. Thanks to Vince’s tireless efforts and your generosity, today the Fund balance is close to $2.5M. Every year, it provides bursaries to over 80 students across the College, including the Community Services and Health Sciences programs, as well as the Augmented Education program – a unique training and employment support model developed by George Brown Polytechnic and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
More than 60% of students attending George Brown Polytechnic require some form of financial assistance.
In honour of Vince Thomson’s upcoming 95th birthday, we invite you to donate to the De La Salle Bursary, an initiative at George Brown Polytechnic led by Vince that has supported countless students over its nearly 27 years in existence.
We would like to kindly thank you for any amount of contribution towards the De La Salle Bursary.
