The Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) is Canada's most comprehensive accessible library service, offering books and materials in a variety of alternative formats to patrons with print disabilities, as defined in section 32 of the Canadian Copyright Act:
- learning disability: an impairment relating to comprehension
- physical disability: the inability to hold or manipulate a book
- visual disability: severe or total impairment of sight or the inability to focus or move one’s eyes.
A growing collection of over 700,000 accessible titles are available for free, and collections include: business, health, culinary arts, disability studies, career/job seeking resources, as well as award winners and best sellers, and more than 50 magazines.
