George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
New Contract Faculty Welcome Sessions
These welcome sessions will introduce you to vital supports and services that are available to all staff, explore important resources for faculty, and touch on things to anticipate on your first day in the classroom-- whether it's online or in-person.
BrightSpace Training
At George Brown, our learning management system is called Brightspace, and it serves as the main space for you to connect online with your students to share course materials, assignments, grades, etc. Faculty are expected to use Brightspace to deliver course content, share course information, and to communicate with students on course-specific matters. Student assignments can be submitted, marked and returned electronically via Brightspace.
Log In to Brightspace: Enter your username and password and click “SIGN IN”. Once you have successfully logged in, you may access the courses you are teaching by clicking on the link which appears in “My Courses.”
Our Brightspace training is available to all faculty and is offered online. This multi-session co-learning series is crafted to support all faculty in utilizing Brightspace, providing them with the necessary tools and skills for navigating the platform successfully. If you cannot attend a live training session, you can opt to watch previously recorded training on demand.
Teaching with MS Teams
Microsoft Teams is the official platform for online classes, workshops, events, meetings, and training sessions.
Microsoft Teams provides a similar experience to Zoom, with the added benefit of synchronizing with other Microsoft Office Products (OneDrive, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
All students, faculty, and staff have access to Microsoft Teams through their George Brown Microsoft 365 account.
