What is Lightboard Teaching?
Lightboard technology allows you to create engaging, visual explanations by writing and drawing while facing your audience. This approach is especially effective for explaining concepts, working through problems, and creating short instructional videos that enhance student understanding.
Why Use a Lightboard
Using a lightboard can help you:
- Present ideas visually while maintaining eye contact with students
- Create clear, step-by-step explanations for complex concepts
- Record short, focused instructional videos
- Support different learning styles through visual and verbal explanations
How You Can Use It
Lightboards are useful for:
- Explaining diagrams, formulas, or processes
- Recording mini-lectures or concept overviews
- Creating review or recap videos
- Supporting flipped or blended learning approaches
Accessing the Lightboard
The TLX space includes a lightboard and video-recording setup available for faculty use.
- Email TLX to book the space and request support if needed
- A team member can provide guidance on how to use the equipment
- The space is available for self-serve use during business hours

Tips for Getting Started
- Plan your content in advance and keep it focused
