Toronto, Ontario (July 25, 2018) – George Brown College is pleased to announce a total of $2.5 million in infrastructure funding for its Fashion Exchange, an innovative new facility purpose-built to revitalize the Canadian fashion industry.

George Brown College Tall Wood Campus Building to be Designed by Moriyama & Teshima Architects + Acton Ostry Architects

Toronto, Ontario (April 3, 2018) – George Brown College has selected Moriyama & Teshima Architects + Acton Ostry Architects to design The Arbour – its tall wood campus building on Toronto’s waterfront. This moves the project one step closer to construction of Ontario’s first tall wood, low carbon institutional building.

George Brown College’s Fashion Exchange LIFT research program aims to transform apparel industry

George Brown College achieved top results for Canadian colleges across various categories including first in research income, first in number of paid students in research, second for number of partnerships and second for number of completed projects.

University of Windsor and George Brown College join intelliFLEX

George Brown College’s Green Building Centre promotes sustainable construction solutions

Toronto, Ontario (August 24, 2017) – Green sustainability is being explored and redefined at George Brown College’s Green Building Centre, which has become an important hub for innovative and environmentally responsible practices in the construction sector. The Centre, which is a state-of-the-art, industry-focused applied research and innovation structure, was funded in part by FedDev Ontario’s Prosperity Initiative.

George Brown planning Tall Wood Building at Waterfront Campus

Toronto, Ontario (July 27, 2017) – George Brown College is expanding the Waterfront Campus with a carbon-neutral wood building called The Arbour. It will be the first Tall Wood Building used for institutional purposes in Ontario. The planned 12-storey structure will produce the same amount of energy, or more than, it consumes. It will also provide students with research and learning opportunities in climate-friendly building practices during the construction process and once it’s complete.

George Brown College Secures Funding for Design, Food and Beverage Research

Toronto, Ontario (May 3, 2017) – George Brown College has been named as recipient of two grants from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council’s College and Community Innovation Program (NSERC-CCIP). The results were announced on May 2, 2017, by the Minister of Science, the Honourable Kirsty Duncan. The NSERC-CCIP supports applied research and collaborations that lead to commercialization and technology transfer while facilitating the development of new technologies and innovative collaboration in communities across the country.

George Brown College Announces Innovation Exchange and Expansion of Waterfront Campus

Toronto, Ontario (Jan. 23, 2017) – George Brown College announced today an expansion of its Waterfront Campus, to be located in Daniels Waterfront – City of the Arts, just blocks from George Brown’s Daphne Cockwell Centre for Health Sciences. The $59-million facility will house part of George Brown’s School of Design, including its interdisciplinary design studio, Institute without Boundaries, as well as a new Innovation Exchange focused on design solutions for the smart economy.
