Priority 3: One George Brown, Positioned for the Future

Main Content

Good programs and strong partnerships need dependable support behind them.

At George Brown Polytechnic, that means reliable services, safe and accessible spaces, secure technology, and careful decisions about how we use our resources.

Strategy 2030 strengthens those foundations. By improving how we operate, plan, and work together, we can better support the people who learn, teach, work, and collaborate here.

Using Our Resources Wisely

3.1 - Secure financial resilience and align resources to strategic priorities.

Achieve financial strength and agility by aligning resources and organizational capacity with strategic priorities, enrolment realities, academic needs, and risk management. Stop, deprioritize, or reallocate work and resources that no longer effectively advance the Strategy priorities and mandate, using reliable evidence and analysis of differential impacts on learner access and success.

We're focusing our time, funding, and resources on the priorities that matter most to learners and the future of George Brown. It's part of building a more financially stable institution that can adapt as needs change.

Making those choices also means reviewing work that no longer supports our strategic priorities. We'll use evidence to guide our decisions and consider how they could affect access to education and student success.

Making Services Easier to Use

3.2 - Deliver a consistent, equitable, and human-centred service experience.

Deliver integrated student-facing and internal services that are equitable by design, accessible, reliable, consistent, and easy to navigate, with clear expectations and service standards for quality and accountability across the institution.

Students and employees should be able to find the help they need without navigating a maze of departments.

We're working toward more consistent, accessible services, with clearer expectations and stronger coordination across George Brown. The aim is a simpler, more reliable experience for everyone.

Supporting Spaces and Technology

3.3 - Sustain resilient technology, infrastructure, and environments for learning and work.

Maintain secure and reliable core technology and physical infrastructure that support academic quality, specialized learning environments, accessibility, safety, and environmental sustainability, while considering opportunities to address housing and residence needs that affect learner access and success.

Good learning and working environments rely on safe, accessible spaces and secure technology.

We'll focus on keeping essential systems reliable, supporting specialized learning spaces, and making sustainable choices about our buildings. We'll also consider opportunities to address student housing needs where they affect access to education.

Working Together, With Accountability

3.4 - Strengthen accountability and our capacity to execute as one institution.

Establish a governance framework that articulates decision scope, accountability, and responsibility; aligns institutional plans, information management, and reporting with the Strategy; and supports measurable outcomes, transparent progress and reporting. Major institutional decisions will be guided by evidence, our values, and clear accountability. Enable employees with the capabilities, tools, and support needed to advance learner success and George Brown’s standing as a leading polytechnic, including through deliberate professional development opportunities.

Clear responsibilities and shared goals help turn Strategy 2030 into action. We're working to make decisions easier to understand, improve co-ordination, and connect day-to-day planning with progress reporting.

Employees are central to that work. We'll support them with the tools and professional development opportunities they need to contribute.

How We'll Measure Success

To understand whether we're moving in the right direction, we'll monitor George Brown's financial health and service standards across different areas of the institution. These measures will help show where things are working and where we need to improve.

As Strategy 2030 moves forward, we'll share results with our community and use what we learn to guide future decisions. Clear reporting is part of being accountable for the changes we've committed to.
