George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
Strategy 2030: Shaping Our Polytechnic Future for Opportunity and Impact sets George Brown Polytechnic's direction through 2030. It focuses our ambitions: helping learners prepare for what's next, strengthening partnerships that benefit our communities, and ensuring George Brown can deliver on both.
The strategy builds on work already underway while responding to changes in education, the economy, and technology. It also sets out how we'll measure progress, rather than simply describing what we hope to achieve.
Why A New Strategy Now?
Learners need more flexible, career-relevant options. Employers and communities are adapting to new technologies and changing skill needs, while economic pressures are reshaping post-secondary education. George Brown needs to respond to these changes and make clear choices about where to focus our efforts and resources.
Strategy 2030 is designed to do that. Its three priorities connect learner success, collaborative partnerships, and the institutional support needed to make both possible.
Building on Strategy 2026
Strategy 2026 focused on growth and impact as George Brown adapted to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. We expanded academic partnerships, advanced work on sustainability and accessibility, and, in 2025, introduced our first applied master's degree.
In 2025, George Brown adopted the name George Brown Polytechnic, reflecting our long-standing role in career-focused education, hands-on learning, and applied research. Strategy 2030 builds on that progress with a more focused plan and clearer measures of success.
A Shared Responsibility
Students, employees, alumni, and partners shaped Strategy 2030. Putting it into action will take the same willingness to listen, collaborate, and make changes as we learn what works.
As we move forward, we'll share progress and outcomes so our community can see what we're achieving and where there's still work to do.
