FIRST ACTS OF GREATNESS

Launch your performing arts career in the entertainment capital of Canada. With more than 180 theatre companies and 100 dance companies in the area, Toronto is the world's third-largest English language theatre community and third in North America in film and television production. Over 40,000 people are employed in this city's vibrant arts, entertainment and recreation industry.

George Brown College has earned a national reputation for training new actors. Located at the Young Centre for Performing Arts in the Distillery District – in facilities shared with the acclaimed Soulpepper Theatre company – our students learn from professionals in surroundings of the highest calibre and perform for the public five times per year.

We train actors to work in all aspects of the arts and entertainment industry. George Brown Theatre School outstanding faculty and partnerships with the acclaimed Soulpepper Theatre Company, Tarragon Theatre and others allow students to learn from professionals of the very highest caliber.

The George Brown Theatre School offers concentrated, career-oriented training in the fundamental skills and professionalism needed to work as professional actors in theatre, television and film. Taught by notable theatre artists, students in the three-year diploma program explore a wide range of acting styles ranging from classical and Elizabethan to absurdism and clowning.

Theatre School graduates are leading players on Canada's main stages and on film and television sets across North America. Graduates of the Theatre School are working in all aspects of the arts and entertainment industry. Toronto is the heart of the country's entertainment industry where there are approximately 75 theatre productions onstage on any given month and anywhere from 18 to 40 film and television productions shooting every day of the year. In addition, an ever-expanding international market creates a consistent demand for fresh faces and new talent.
