Disability Services

Sometimes that means making accommodations facilitated by the Disability Services office. Here are some of the disabilities accommodated and the services offered. You simply need to register to ensure you receive the services you require.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD)
Medical (includes conditions such as Epilepsy, HIV, Diabetes, Kidney Disease)
Deaf, Deafened, Hard of Hearing

Low Vision/Blindness
Mobility/Functional (includes physical, mobility and neurological disabilities)
Mental Health (includes Depression, Anxiety Disorder, Schizophrenia, Mood Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome)

We provide assistance and consultation for a wide array of educational accommodations, including:

sign language interpreters
peer notetakers
computerized notetakers
reduced course loads
access to adaptive technology
learning strategies
loaning of recording devices
Large-print, taped or Braille materials
financial assistance (bursary)
accommodation for pre-admission and placement testing

Accessible Library Services

The Library Learning Commons has Accessible Library Services to support students with a disability, and students who are Deaf, deafened, and hard of hearing; for example, an extended loan policy, reference help in person, help from home by phone, TTY, email, Live Help/msn, tours by your program liaison librarian, assistive devices available to use in the library. For more information about the services, check out the Accessible Library Services research guide on the library website. Captioned Media & E-text Policy

The Captioned Media & E-text Policy requires that all faculty show only captioned media in the classroom and only assign captioned media as a course requirement. This policy also requires that all printed educational materials (e.g., textbooks, course outlines, reading lists, assignments, articles, test, examinations, notes and any other handouts) that are distributed/assigned to the students are available in an electronic format, such as MSWord. http://researchguides.georgebrown.ca/captionedmedia
