Biography

Dr. Md. Safiuddin has been a member of the faculty in Angelo DelZotto School of Construction Management at George Brown College since May 2013. He teaches in the Honours Bachelor of Technology (Construction Management) program. Professor Safiuddin brings into the classroom over twenty three years of engineering experience from academia and private sectors in construction materials and technology. Before joining George Brown College as a full-time professor, he worked as a Research Associate, Post-doctoral Fellow, Assistant Professor/Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, Visiting Scholar, and Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant in several prestigious educational institutes in Canada and Malaysia. He also worked as a Materials Engineer in Bangladesh.

Dr. Safiuddin specializes in construction materials and technology. He has developed several new construction materials such as high-strength and high-performance concretes incorporating quarry dust, high-performance composite including short carbon fibres, self-consolidating high-strength concrete with palm oil fuel ash, self-consolidating high-performance concrete incorporating rice husk ash and self-consolidating high-strength concrete with recycled concrete aggregate. In recent years, Dr. Safiuddin has been involved in the development of advanced construction materials such as concrete incorporating nano-particles and fibre reinforced self-consolidating concrete. His research interests include studies of innovative and sustainable construction materials and technology. He has authored and co-authored two books, two book chapters, and numerous peer-reviewed research papers.
