Programs

For dancers, George Brown Dance provides principal training in ballet with a strong focus on additional dance styles including modern and jazz.

Students practice their craft in student dance ensembles, an annual dance showcase and an annual season of public theatre productions, all designed to provide students with practical onstage experience.


These are full-time intensive programs designed for those with a commitment to pursuing a professional career in dance. Enrolment is limited, ensuring adequate personal attention is given to each student. Admission is competitive, based on the results of auditions and interviews.

George Brown Dance Programs:

Dance Performance Preparation - P101

This one year certificate program is a stepping stone to further training in dance. Dance Performance Preparation is a broad based dance program that can help students determine their aptitude for a career in dance. The program offers classes in ballet, pointe, jazz, modern dance, acting and vocal to help students realize their strengths and guide them to further study as well as broad range employability.

Dance Performance Studies - P102

Dance Performance Studies is a two year diploma program with a ballet focus. This program offers students intensive training in ballet and pointe along with classes in modern dance, jazz, acting and voice. Dance Performance Studies prepares students for a professional career in dance and through articulation agreements with universities students have the opportunity to pursue a degree in dance after the completion of their diploma.

Commercial Dance Studies - P103

This three-semester certificate program provides students with the training necessary to gain work in the commercial dance field. The program is designed for students with training in modern dance forms, specifically jazz, hip hop and musical theatre.
