All bomb threats are a breach of the Criminal Code. The disruption caused by hoaxes creates great concern and angst to those involved. In addition, hoaxes cause disruption of services provided by local police, fire and E.M.S. and place others in the community at risk.

All procedures to deal with such threats must be tempered with the need to protect all members of the college community, and the need to maintain normal day to day academic activities.

The following suggestions are for the community in relation to a bomb threat.

If the bomb threat is by phone:

  • Listen
  • Remain calm
  • Do not interrupt the caller
  • Obtain and record information
  • Notify Security at:  416-415-4000 or or 0 from a George Brown College internal Cisco phone, if safe to do so 

If the bomb threat is by note, fax, text or email:

  • Do not handle note
  • Do not delete e‐mail or Text
  • Do not use fax machine
  • Notify Campus Security at:  416-415-4000 or or 0 from a George Brown College internal Cisco phone, if safe to do so

If the bomb threat is in person:

  • Remain calm, comply with persons demands
  • If possible, notify Campus Security without antagonizing the person at 416-415-4000 or or 0 from a George Brown College internal Cisco phone, if safe to do so
  • Develop a good description of person

If there is a suspicious package on campus:

  • Do not touch package
  • Clear immediate area
  • Do not use portable radio’s or cell phones
  • Notify Security at 416-415-4000 or or 0 from a George Brown College internal Cisco phone, if safe to do so
