ESL 9081 Canadian Workplace Culture: Expectations and Communication Styles

This course is designed for advanced ESL students who wish to increase their knowledge of cultural expectations and communicate more effectively in the Canadian workplace. Developing students' awareness of appropriate language, behaviours, and rights and responsibilities are key components as well as managing diversity in a multi-cultural workplace. Students will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with their peers, practice optimal techniques and develop the necessary skills to handle common situational challenges facing internationally educated professionals, and establish a foundation of intercultural knowledge that will allow them confidence in professional interactions.
