Here’s what seven of our 2019 valedictorians said about the honour, and their experience at the college:

Julio Castro

Honours Bachelor of Technology (Construction Management), Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies

"I had many memorable experiences at George Brown College and met a number of passionate professors and students. George Brown College has given me the construction management tools that I need to be successful in the industry and has provided a foundation on which to build on. I can truly say that I have gained the confidence that I was looking for in order to be able to manage my own projects in the future."

Nureisse Khan

Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Hospitality), Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts

"I am humbled to be the valedictorian of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. My time at George Brown College shaped who I am today, and it was because of the guidance of my professors and the friendships of my peers that I feel confident in my future. I learned that I can try as many professions in my lifetime as I see fit, and that prioritizing my passions over my earnings will make all the difference in being successful. Success is doing what you love, and because I loved my time here at the college, I am successful."

Dimitra Lerikos

Denturism, Centre for Health Sciences

"My time at George Brown has provided me with tools with which I can create smiles for the world. In my final semester, I traveled with Nine Miles of Smiles to provide dental care to under-serviced areas in Jamaica. It was through this experience along with my time as a Peer Leader that I was able to apply what I have learned to better the lives of others. I truly appreciate the learning experiences I have had, and for my professors who have inspired and guided me to be the best I can in my field."

Sianna Misheva

Business Administration—Human Resources, Centre for Business

“George Brown College has been the most influential institution in my life. It gave me a platform to develop my personal brand and grow my professional skills, as well as a supportive community that is filled with collaboration and a common goal of improvement. Most importantly, it taught me the importance and joy of contributing to society and treating everyone with dignity. It inspired curiosity and the pursuit of excellence!”

Danielle Palermo

Computer Systems Technology, Centre for Arts, Design and Information Technology

"Three years ago, I pushed myself to do what I had always wanted to do—go back to college. From day one, I felt myself coming out of my shell and realizing I followed the right path. I feel that everyone we meet in college plays a role in our lives and I was lucky enough to meet the people that would guide me through my experience here and beyond that. I not only found an education here at George Brown College, but also life-long friends, inspiring mentors, and a passion that will live on for the rest of my career."

Amandah Sithole

Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas, Centre for Preparatory and Liberal Studies

"Finally, we have made it! Sailing through the year was not as easy, all thanks to the hard work and support from the professors—you inspired me a lot. The student resources like the Library Learning Commons and tutoring groups that were made accessible to students eased the turbulent tide of student life. Thanks to my classmates—we worked together, inspired each other and pulled through to the finishing line together. Here's to many more years of success.”

Samantha Stockall

Practical Nursing, Centre for Health Sciences

"My years at George Brown have been some of the best and most informative of my life. I will forever by grateful for all that I've learned here and the friends I've met along the way. I feel excited and prepared for my career to finally begin."
