Here’s what four of our 2018 valedictorians said about the honour:
Centre for Community Services and Early Childhood
"This has been quite a year! It has been so exciting to be a part of the ASL-English Interpreter program, and I have learned more over the last three years than I could have ever imagined. I owe this day to the Deaf community, and I feel so lucky
that I get to be a part of such a generous community. I feel very honoured to have been chosen as this year’s valedictorian, and I can’t wait to find out where this journey takes all of us!"
"My experience at George Brown has seen its fair share of both challenges and successes. Beyond what I took away from the classroom I learned a lot about myself and who I am as a person. My time at George Brown would not be what it was without the
people I formed friendships with, collaborated with, or learned from. My experience was made richer by those professors who invest their time and effort into their work (and our futures) because they believe in us and want to see us succeed. I
survived these years because of the friends I made along the way."
Jerrica Tyrene Paez
"Throughout my time at George Brown College, the faculty, student groups, and my fellow classmates have shown me that I am competent and capable of whatever I set my mind and heart to accomplish. I have learned so much, not only intellectually, but
emotionally and spiritually, as well. George Brown College provides everyone with an opportunity to grow in all aspects of life and for that I am eternally grateful."
"My time at George Brown has been the most challenging yet fulfilling part of my educational journey so far. Not only did my professors and classmates inspire me to be the very best I can be in my field, but they also encouraged and taught me to believe
in myself, and I can’t begin to express my appreciation for that. It is an absolute honor to be representing such a hard-working group of students and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!"
