OHIP+ provides free drug coverage for young people

Starting January 1, 2018, the provincial government will cover prescription drug costs for youth 24 years old and under.

You don't have to enrol. All you need is your health card number and a valid prescription.

Under the new OHIP+ program Open New Browser Window, the province will cover the cost of more than 4,400 prescription medications and other drug products. Some of these include:

  • Antibiotics to treat infections
  • Inhalers for asthma
  • EPIPENs
  • Contraceptives
  • Various insulins, oral diabetic medications and diabetes test strips
  • Medications to treat mental health conditions (e.g. antidepressants)
  • Medications to treat arthritis, epilepsy and other chronic conditions
