It's a new year and with it comes fresh starts and new beginnings.

It's easy to make resolutions, but keeping them is a different matter. Whether you've promised yourself to improve your grades, get healthy or find a job, we provide resources to help you reach your goals.

Improve your grades

Having trouble managing your time? Struggling to establish good study habits? We've got your back.

Peerconnect

Peer coaches at each campus can show you how to manage your academic and personal commitments, develop new study habits and reduce stress. Be sure to take advantage of Peerconnect’s drop-in services and workshops. You can find study tips at georgebrown.ca/peerconnect/study-well.

Tutoring & Learning Centre (TLC)

You can find a TLC location at each campus. Campus TLCs focus on helping students develop their English and math skills. TLC offers one-on-one tutoring as well as workshops.

Find study buddies

Start a study group with people in your program. This allows you to share notes and ideas with classmates and explain concepts to each other. It's also a great way to prepare for tests and exams.

Get involved and meet new people

Want to broaden your circle of friends and get involved in the George Brown community?

Join the Student Leadership Academy

As a member, you're able to volunteer for events, including Student Life activities, service fairs, orientation, academic workshops and more. This is also your opportunity to get an invite to the Student Leadership Academy retreat that happens every summer.

Student awards

George Brown offers hundreds of scholarships, bursaries and awards. It takes about 40 minutes to fill out the online application but it could pay off, if you take the time.

Career Centre

Visit George Brown's Career Centres for help with finding part-time work that can fit into your school schedule.

HigherEd Points

George Brown participates in the HigherEd Points program. Ask friends and family to donate their Aeroplan points to help you pay for your education.

Get active

Incorporating exercise into your schedule can be tough when you're juggling school and other commitments. Luckily, there are services and facilities at George Brown that can make sneaking in a workout session easier.

  • Visit the fitness centres at St. James and Casa Loma campuses. These facilities are open all day, Monday to Friday and also offer women and trans-only hours.
  • Sign up for a fitness class at St. James, Waterfront or Casa Loma Campus. The next session will start in February 2018.
  • Check out the WAVE Fitness Studios at the Daphne Cockwell Centre for Health Sciences at Waterfront Campus. You can sign up for an affordable personal training package that also includes nutrition counselling.
