Third Annual Food Court Social raises $265,000 for the Augmented Education Program

Foodies, passionate advocators of mental health and Toronto’s best chefs came together on September 22 for the third annual Food Court Social presented by the Slaight Family Foundation in support of George Brown College’s Augmented Education Program (Aug Ed).

The Food Court Social is an annual fundraising event hosted by the George Brown College Foundation, where top chefs from across the city join forces to offer a taste of Toronto’s best restaurants. All of the net funds raised through the event support Aug Ed, a unique program providing free training and employment support for students with a history of mental illness and addiction challenges.

This year’s event was a tremendous success thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, donors and guests. Today, we are pleased to announce that we raised a net total of $265,000!

“I am taken aback by the incredible amount of support for the Aug Ed program that we’ve received from the George Brown community and beyond,” says Cindy Gouveia, President of the George Brown College Foundation. “We couldn’t have achieved this success without the passion and dedication of hundreds of our supporters who believe in helping our students achieve their full potential. On behalf of our Augmented Education staff and students, a very special thank you!”
To date, Food Court Social events have raised an incredible $620,000 for program.

Be sure to mark your calendars for next year’s event – Thursday, September 28th, 2017.
