50X50 photo exhibition extended to September 30

Our 50X50 photo exhibition celebrates how education has shaped the lives of newcomers to Canada. This showcase opened in the spring as part of the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival Open New Browser Window, and due to popular demand its run has been extended to September 30, 2018.

We selected 50 leading and emerging photographers to capture the success stories of 50 George Brown College alumni who immigrated to Canada. This exhibit coincides with our 50th anniversary, and highlights our diversity and the changing face of Toronto.

More about the images

These stunning portraits are on display in the main lobby of our Waterfront Campus. The 50 subjects represent George Brown graduates over the past five decades from 37 different countries of origin. These graduates say George Brown College had a significant impact on their settlement and integration into Canadian life.

The 20” x 24” photographs are affixed to interior pillars in the main lobby at Waterfront Campus and have QR codes so viewers can go online to learn more about the subjects and read the artists' statements.
