The COVID-19 pandemic continues to highlight the importance of global supply chains and how they affect business operations and our everyday lives. As a result, George Brown College has partnered with a worldwide transportation and logistics leader to increase opportunities to pursue a career in this exciting and growing field.

The School of Continuing Education recently signed an agreement with The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport North America (CILTNA), one of the world’s premier transportation and logistics organizations. (The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, or CILT, is the oldest international transportation and logistics organization in the world, established in 1919.) With this partnership, graduates of the online Supply Chain Management program can receive two credentials. Grads receive the George Brown College Continuing Education certificate, and they qualify for the CILT International Diploma in Logistics and Transport.

“We are pleased to partner with CILTNA to provide a new pathway for graduates looking to advance their careers in an industry that is growing by leaps and bounds,” George Brown College President Dr. Gervan Fearon said. “We have a well-established background as a centre of excellence for the study and advancement of supply chain management. The partnership with CILTNA will further enhance our support for student career development and success as well as contribute to industry growth and competitiveness.”

The Supply Chain Management program is a flexible option for professionals in the sector looking for new opportunities. It’s also open to people with no experience in logistics and transportation.

More CILT benefits for students and graduates

Students enrolled in the Supply Chain Management program can apply for CILTNA student membership. It includes access to free CILTNA events and a discount on paid events. And program graduates with one year of work experience in the logistics or transportation industries are eligible for the working-level CILTNA membership.

“We at CILTNA are extremely pleased to be associated with George Brown College and its administration, faculty, and students. It is a leading institution with a vision we share:  to raise the performance of supply chains by developing a stream of talented professionals who make their mark in the world and progress rapidly to their full potential,” CILTNA President Bob Armstrong said. “The new opportunities they will have by connecting with other professionals in CILT’s international logistics and transport network will open many doors and make their education at George Brown College all the more valuable.”
