Award-winning Canadian real estate development and property management Company, Concert Properties Ltd. recently pledged a total of $1 million to support students in skilled trades at the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies. The Concert Properties and Partners Award is created through the proceeds of Concert’s annual golf tournament attended by sector leaders both locally and nationally.

Brokered by the George Brown College Foundation, Concert Properties Ltd.’s gift is directed to scholarships at the Centre to support students who are registered full time in their first, second or third year of study. The gift will furnish 24 Concert Properties and Partners Awards annually. Two thirds of the gift will go towards expendable awards, while a third of the gift will go towards an endowment fund, which will sustain trade-related student scholarships in perpetuity.

Brian McCauley, Chief Executive Officer of Concert Properties Limited, said of the gift, “As the construction industry sets its eyes to the future, we recognize that we must pave the way to ensure the sector’s longevity. Concert Properties Ltd.’s support of George Brown College’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies students is designed to assist students in meeting the increasing costs of study in our field. It is my hope that the sector will benefit in the future, from the talent we support today.”

President of George Brown College, Anne Sado, said, “Concert Properties leads by example as a company as concerned about developing communities as it is with developing real estate. This commitment to students at George Brown’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies is a tangible expression of that philosophy and is to be lauded in terms of its generosity, foresight and thought-leadership. Concert’s provision of awards ensures tomorrow’s construction industry has access to the skilled workforce it will need, thereby future-proofing the industry.”

Dr. Cindy Gouveia, President of the George Brown College Foundation said, “Concert’s continued support for the students of the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies through this gift, will enact positive change in the lives of those students that is priceless. The Foundation is pleased to have such a strong philanthropic partnership with Concert Properties, a truly generous donor.”
