Biography

Joanne Pettigrew graduated with an Honours B.A. in Fine Art and Art History from McMaster University in 1977. She subsequently pursued a career as an independent artist in the media of metal sculpture and printmaking, exhibiting in both solo and group shows. After apprenticeship in graphic design with Kensington Place Studios in Toronto, she established Pettigrew and Brown Inc. with a partner in 1985. This company employed several artists and produced graphic design, illustration, prepress and print production for a broad variety of clients: retail, financial institutions, government agencies and arts institutions. Since 1994, Joanne has worked as an independent graphic designer and is a member of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario. For the past three years she has taught part time as a Professor in the School of Design at George Brown College.
