Online Workshops and Webinars
Cornerstone (My Learning) lists the all training opportunities available to college employees. It features both scheduled and on-demand courses on topics including teaching and learning skills, digital proficiency and technology, communication and collaboration, and much more.
Training delivered by TLX
The TLX generally offers drop-in sessions on a weekly basis that address a variety of teaching and learning topics. There are also drop-in sessions open to faculty to discuss topics of personal interest. All TLX workshops and training sessions are posted on Cornerstone (My Learning).
Telling is not Teaching: Interactive Lecturing in an Online Environment
In this one-hour workshop, participants will be introduced to the interactive lecture as an active learning technique. Rather than a one-directional transmission of information in traditional lecture style, this workshop focuses on encouraging learner-centred activities to involve students in the subject matter. Framed in the Connectivist Approach, the workshop will provide suggestions on how to encourage student participation, promote learner-to-learner discussion, and build learning a community.
Learning Circle: Teaching and Learning in the Diverse Classroom
We will meet weekly through Teams (time and day to be chosen collectively) to discuss our learning in the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) called Teaching and Learning in the Diverse Classroom. We will meet during each week the course runs (5 weeks) plus another week to synthesize our learning and discuss any next steps we envision. Activities will be guided by the course's accompanying Learning Circle guide.
Blackboard Collaborate Open Office Hours: Q & A Session
We'll use this time to meet in the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra workspace for an open question and answer session.
TLX Office Hours
Recordings of TLX Office Hour sessions are recorded and available for review.
