This course is designed for advanced ESL students who need to improve their writing effectiveness, power, and flow. Students begin with basic paragraph writing: pre-writing, selection of a topic, the topic sentence, techniques of support and methods of
development. Using a variety of planning, drafting and revising strategies, students gain confidence and skills to write a coherent and cohesive passage. The course will also include explanation and practice of problem areas in the mechanics of writing
including grammar, sentence structure and spelling. Students will learn strategies for self-editing and for vocabulary development.
