Professional Development – Are You a Reflective Practitioner?

Program Description

How does Ontario’s Early Learning Framework – ELECT: Early Learning for Every Child Today – and the College of Early Childhood Educators – Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice – inform your daily practice with the children and families at your centre?

Through a series of four professional development Workshops participants will reflect on their practices that support and influence children’s learning and development. Research and practice guidelines as outlined in Early Learning Framework  and the College of Early Childhood Educator’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice will be used to guide participants thinking about such topics as curriculum and pedagogy, self-regulation, and observing and documenting children’s learning.

Series One:

  • Assessment: Observing and Documenting Children’s Learning to support Curriculum Development

Series Two:

  • Emergent Curriculum: How Play Becomes Curriculum

Series Three:

  • The Critical Practice of Supporting Self-Regulation with Young Children

Series Four:

  • The Project Approach: Making Learning Meaningful and Relevant in Children’s Lives.
    Supporting the Development of Literacy, Numeracy and Inquiry in the Early Years

*Earn a Professional Development certificate for each of the workshop series (totalling 4)

** Start your degree by: completing all four workshop series. This may be applied towards one of the three bridge courses for the Honours Bachelor of Early Childhood Leadership Program (Fast-Track).
