• A Dynamic New Location for the School of Design

    George Brown College is excited to announce the relocation of the School of Design within the Daniels Waterfront - City of the Arts development, just blocks from the College’s existing Daphne Cockwell Centre for Health Sciences.

    George Brown College campuses are much more than just lecture spaces. The new School of Design promises to be an innovative home of collaboration between business, community and academia partners.

    The 110,000 sq. ft. facility will include an Industry Training Centre, Usability & Augmented Reality labs and much more, including:

    Ideation Centre

    THE IDEATION CENTRE

    In keeping with the School of Design’s philosophy of collaboration, the Ideation Centre will provide spaces for charrettes – meetings where a a group collaborates to achieve a particular goal

    Student Store

    THE SCHOOL OF DESIGN STUDENT STORE

    Located on the ground floor of the new School of Design and facing scenic Sugar Beach, the Student Store is intended to sell products designed and developed by students. The revenues from the store will fund student scholarships

    Digital Incubator Office Space

    DIGITAL INCUBATOR OFFICE SPACES

    Featuring airy, sun-filled private and shared spaces, the Incubator will encourage collaboration and interaction between start-ups, allowing for easy cross-pollination of ideas and the development of a creative culture.

    Makerspace

    STUDENT & INDUSTRY MAKER SPACE

    This workspace is intended for use by student and industry that require areas to build their physical research projects and prototypes.

    Each year approximately 650 highly skilled students graduate from the School of Design and the College’s graduates are rated #1 amongst GTA employers. Approximately 1,800 students are expected to benefit from this facility each year.
