Biography

In addition to working as a professor and the coordinator of the Sound Design program at George Brown College, Sherry Ostapovitch is also undertaking a PhD in Music Education at the University of Toronto. Previously she has lectured on Field Recording and Soundscape Composition at Goldsmiths, University of London, UK. She has had a vibrant career as a sound engineer recording musicians, though now primarily focuses on recording environmental sounds as a sound artist. Her most recent work, In a Queer Time and Space, was recorded and composed for ambisonic surround sound. Her previous work includes composing a site-specific work in London Fields, UK for Kaffe Matthews’s sonic bicycles involving speakers, a raspberry Pi, and GPS system.
