Biography

As Associate Vice-President, Strategic Planning and Institutional Analysis, Shannon Hynes generates future-oriented insights and facilitates highly collaborative strategic management processes to develop and deliver the institutional strategy, associated plans and change efforts. With oversight of institutional research, integrated strategic and operational planning, and George Brown College’s strategic project portfolio, Shannon ensures the college has the foresight, planning and momentum required to deliver on its mandate and achieve its strategic objectives.  

Shannon joined the college in 2003 and has taken on progressively senior and more diverse roles. She draws upon insights gained through more than 18 years of experience in higher education leadership and her work in corporate brand strategy in a variety of sectors. With expertise in organizational transformation, strategy formulation, marketing, research, brand communications and a background in publishing and the arts, Shannon advises on emerging trends and competitive intelligence that affect positioning, drive differentiation and boost loyalty. 

Shannon earned her Bachelor of Arts from York University, completed a post-graduate certificate in Publishing from Ryerson University, and earned her Master of Business Administration from the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University. She is also a Prosci-certified Change Leader.
