Male Athlete of the Week: D'Artaniel Jackman

Jackman, a 2016/17 OCAA All-Star at the outside hitter position, picked up right where he left off in the season-opening Durham College Adidas Classic. The 6’3” Toronto native led the Huskies to an undefeated six-game run (4-0-2), including reeling off three consecutive wins on Saturday to earn the title. The Huskies defeated a strong USports program, the University of Ottawa, in the finals and knocked off the defending champion Algonquin Thunder to get there. Jackman was named Tournament MVP for his dominant play. The Huskies open the regular season on Friday, November 3 at home against Georgian.

Male Athlete of the Week: Filipe Vilela

Vilela continued his incredible season on Friday night against Cambrian, netting his second hat trick in as many games in a 6-1 win. The Huskies striker now leads the province in scoring with ten goals, and is a big reason that the Huskies have the OCAA’s second high scoring offense and sit within striking distance of a central division crown. George Brown has a huge week ahead, facing the two teams directly above and below them in the standings. They will pay Humber a visit on Tuesday night, a must-win if they are to catch the undefeated Hawks, and then host third-place Sheridan on Friday night. Vilela will be looked upon to lead as they approach the season’s home stretch.
