WOMEN'S BASKETBALL LOOK TO CLOSE FIRST SEMESTER WITH SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN SATURDAY

dfsdffdg

Matchup   Loyalist @ George Brown
Date         Saturday, December 1
Time         Women 3:00 p.m.
Location   Casa Loma Gym

Huskies women's basketball (7-1, 1st east) will look to close the first semester perfect at home and with their sixth straight win on Saturday afternoon when they host Loyalist at Casa Loma.

George Brown has been effective wearing opponents down with 40 minutes of pressure all year, and have the depth to stay fresh late into games. The Huskies 15.1 steals per game ranks them third in the province, but that statistic doesn't do justice to just how dangerous the press has been. Opponents are scoring just 58.9 points a night, and are often gassed by the time the fourth quarter rolls around.

The scoring attack has been balanced, with Tianna Sullivan, Zae Sellers, Kiyann Grimaldo and Janai Menzies all averaging double figures. Menzies returned to action against Durham on Wednesday and looked great, adding athleticism and scoring punch to a group already heavy on both.

Wing Charlene Mensah and forward Francesca Bellini continue to improve as crucial pieces as the season has worn on. Mensah's another elite athlete who can pester on the press and get to the rim offensively, while Bellini's soft touch and ability to get on the glass have been difference-makers.

A win will ensure George Brown is no worse than tied for first in the east over the holiday break, Loyalist heads into the matchup with a record of 3-4.
