JESSE OLIVER, EFFIE TAKAS NAMED HUSKIES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

DSWNWNS

Jesse Oliver (Men’s Indoor Soccer)

In his final tournament representing George Brown, fifth-year midfielder Jesse Oliver showed why he’s become a pillar of the Huskies soccer program. The Trinidad and Tobago native led George Brown to an OCAA silver medal last week, and Oliver concludes his career with four indoor medals and five total. Jesse's ability to control play on both ends of the field was second to none in the province, a
nd just as important was his leadership ability both on and off the field. His impact on athletics will not soon be forgotten, and Oliver will go down among Huskies greats as his career winds down.

Effie Takas (Women’s Indoor Soccer)

Third-year defender Effie Takas battled through injury at the OCAA Championship last week to provide her normal strong play. Despite going down with a lower-body injury early in the tournament, Takas toughed it out, putting on a teammates brace and fighting through to nearly lead George Brown to a spot in the semi-finals. Effie was a major reason the women’s indoor soccer program had such a turnaround in 2018, winning two tournaments while looking like a completely new group.
